ANTIGUO CONVENTO FRANCISCANO DE SANTA ANA
Religious complex built with the stones of the ancient Tarascan capital that overlooks it in Tzintzuntzan.
Founded in the 16th century, this religious complex was partly built with the stones of the ancient Tarascan capital which overlooks it: it is the masterpiece of the evangelization of Michoacán, composed of a convent, two churches and a very large atrium planted with olive trees which would have been imported from Spain at the request of Vasco de Quiroga. The monastery now houses a museum dedicated to the Purepecha culture and the colonization of the region.
