FIESTA DE LA CANDELARIA DE TLACOTALPAN

The village of Tlacotalpan, in the State of Veracruz, has great devotion to the Virgin of La and is therefore famous on February 2 with great pomp. In fact, the festivities begin on January 31 with a traditional Costume Parade. On 1 ^{February, bulls are thrown out in the village and huge demonic characters appear, to get away from bad spirits and prepare the way to the Virgin of La. On February 2nd, the entire village celebrates the anniversary of the Virgin and it is flown by boat on the river Papaloapan to bless the banks and protect Tlacotalpan from the floods. The festivities are punctuated by the sound of the sound music, because it is also on these dates that the meeting of the jaraneros takes place. On this occasion, musicians from the music of the region and all states of the Republic gather in Tlacotalpan to dance and sing until dawn. They meet a popular and spontaneous concert, commonly called steam steam.}
