This port (Λιμάνι Λαυρίου/Limani Lavriou) has several daily ferry links with the islands of Kea (1h journey) and Kythnos (1h30/2h30). Other connections include Agios Efstratios, Psara, Limnos, Andros, Tinos, Syros and Kavala. The terminus of the KTEL Athens-Lavrio bus service is on site. The port has been active since ancient times. However, it took on its current appearance in the 20th century, when the French Compagnie des Mines du Laurion exported here the minerals mined in the neighboring massif.
