Temple at the source of the Godaviri river, one of the 12 places where Shiva manifested himself as a column of light
Located at the source of the river Godaviri, this temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is one of the 12 jyotirlingam, the place where Shiva manifested as a column of light. The sacred tank is at the source of the Godaviri River. The main lingam represents the three faces of Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra. The erosion of the statue is interpreted as the natural erosion of human society. The other lingams represent Shiva. Every Monday from 4 to 5 pm, a crown of precious stones is placed on the golden mask of Tridev.
