St. Peter's parish church has been through a lot! Built in the early days of colonization, it survived the hurricane of 1780, but was destroyed in 1831. Rebuilt in 1837 in Georgian style, it boasts a crenellated tower typical of Anglican churches. Destroyed by fire in 1980, it was restored three years later. Its harmonious, all-white interior features beautifully rounded lattice windows. A perfect backdrop for the Flower Show and Garden Show, a major flower arranging competition it hosts every January.
