SUMBURGH HEAD LIGHTHOUSE & NATURE RESERVE
Between sea and land, the Sumburgh Head site - lighthouse, nature and bird sanctuary, breathtaking landscape - marvels.
At the southernmost tip of the Mainland is one of Shetland's most breathtaking spots. Like many of its counterparts in Scotland, this lighthouse was the work of Robert Stevenson in 1821, grandfather of the successful author. Inside, the history of the building is presented alongside the flora and fauna of the surrounding area. The entire site is also an RSPB reserve, where one can come freely all year round to admire the birds. Also don't miss the café with its superb view.
