A true icon of the Manx landscape, the Lady Isabella is the largest paddlewheel in the world still in operation. Raised in 1854, its 22 metres in diameter was used for zinc and lead mining in the valley. The 600 workers left in 1929, but the beauty stayed. Today, it is on the island's £20 notes and is managed by Manx National Heritage. Visitors enjoy superb views at its summit and discover the region's industrial heritage as well as the history of these men from the former mining sites.
