This baroque church has a choir and five chapels with fluted Doric pilasters.
A church that leaves no stone unturned! The igreja de São Jão Baptista was built on the remains of a 16th-century Manueline church, destroyed when the powder magazine in the castle keep exploded in September 1732. The building is octagonal in plan, with two towers on the façade. A Baroque church, its interior walls are lined with two-tone marble, and it features a choir and five chapels with fluted Doric pilasters.
