Built in the 16th century, this temple has Vijayanagara architectural features, with a profusion of carvings and paintings throughout most of the temple structure. Inside, particularly detailed and well-preserved frescoes of scenes of Rama and Krishna from the stories of the Ramayana, Mahabharata and the Puranas. It is dedicated to the god Veerabhadra, a fierce form of Shiva. About 200 meters from the temple is a gigantic monolithic Nandi (bull vehicle of Shiva) which is said to be one of the largest of its kind in the world.
