This temple is dedicated to Rama, the seventh avatar of Vishnu, and is located about one kilometer from Tirupati station. This temple was built to commemorate Rama's visit to Tirupati. He was accompanied by Lakshmana and Sita as he returned from Lanka. The demon king Ravana of Sri Lanka had kidnapped Sita, Rama's wife. The latter had therefore gone looking for him in the company of his younger brother Lakshamana. The main festival celebrated here is of course the birth of Rama, which falls in March or April in the Gregorian calendar.
