LOKANARKAVU TEMPLE
Temple dedicated to Durga, about 20 km south of Mahé, which hosts the Pooram festival in March-April and the Mandala Utsavam
Located about twenty kilometers south of Mahé, this temple is dedicated to the goddess Durga. The Pooram festival is celebrated in March-April and the Mandala Utsavam is held for 30 days during November-December. During these festivals, one can enjoy Poorakkali, a traditional dance form performed only in this temple. Near the temple, there are three rock-cut paths whose carved walls fascinate visitors. There are also two other temples nearby that celebrate the gods Vishnu and Shiva.
