AK YUM
Temple among the earliest examples of prasat, temple-towers with sanctuaries representative of Khmer architecture
This temple, located on the southern edge of the Western Baray, is of major importance for the history of the Angkor site. Probably built towards the end of the 8th century, then refurbished in the 9th century under the reign of the builder Jayavarman II, it is undoubtedly one of the earliest examples of prasat, the tower-temples that house the sanctuaries and are so representative of Khmer architecture. Discovered in 1933 by the archaeologist George Trouvé, there is not much left today. Its visit can be done during the discovery of the Western Baray.
