temple built by King Harshavarman I with solid gold Shiva statue, lintel featuring elephant-headed figure

This small temple located southwest of the southern gate of Angkor Thom dates from the late 10th century. Perhaps built by King Harshavarman I, it was probably dedicated to Shiva a few centuries later, the sanctuary having housed a large solid gold statue of Shiva. This pyramid temple was not completed until the reign of Rajendravarman II. The tower at the top of the pyramid is almost as high as the base itself. On the lintel of the main facade, we notice a figure with an elephant head. It is Ganesha riding his own trunk
