PRASAT CHRUNG
4 Identical Prasat Chrung dating from the late c., an open monument to the west of a gopura followed by a terrace and cella.
Prasat Chrung is a very nice walk. Just after the southern gate of Angkor Thom, turn right to climb the embankment that leads to the ancient walkway. It offers a superb view of the Angkor Thom moat and leads to the monument 1.5 km away, at the corner of the wall. There are four Prasat Chrung, built in the late 12th century, all identical, at each corner of the royal city. The monument is opened on the west side by a gopura followed by a cruciform terrace and then a cella. Beautifully carved tympanums and bas-reliefs
