LEPER KING'S TERRACE
U-shaped terrace north of the entrance to the Royal Palace built by Jayavarman VII in the century, dedicated to royal cremations
Located north of the entrance to the Royal Palace, its U-shape could suggest that the place was reserved for royal cremations. Built by Jayavarman VII towards the end of the 12th century, many works and refurbishments have modified the structure over the centuries. On the other hand, the legend of the Leper King has little to do with this building: historians have chosen this name because of a statue whose poor condition and moss that covered it gave it the appearance of a sick person. It is in fact Yama, Hindu god of the underworld.
