TEP PRANAM
Temple dating from the late century with a Buddha seated on a lotus flower in a posture of witnessing the earth
The Buddhist temple of Tep Pranam is located just north of the Terrace of the Leper King. Probably built in the late 15th century, it is one of the least well preserved sites in Angkor Thom. The original shrine has now disappeared, and a modern building has been constructed to house the giant statue of Buddha that once stood there. The head of this 6 meter high statue made in the 16th century has never been found and has been reconstructed in cement. The Buddha is sitting on a lotus flower in a posture of witnessing the earth.
