DIOMIDES BOTANICAL GARDEN
The largest botanical garden in the eastern Mediterranean (186 ha). Free but accessible on request by registering online.
Located along the ancient Sacred Way, this 186-hectare garden (Βοτανικός Κήπος Διομήδους/Votanikos Kipos Diomidous) is the largest in the eastern Mediterranean. Created in 1950 and opened to the public in 1975, it houses 4,000 plant species in six sections, one of which is devoted to plants of antiquity. It belongs to the foundation of Alexandros Diomidis (1874-1950), who was Governor of the Central Bank of Greece and a government minister. Picnic area and café.
