Missolonghi Archaeological Museum: burial site of a Mycenaean warrior, rare textiles, sculptures from Etolian cities..

The Missolonghi Archaeological Museum (Ξενοκράτειο Αρχαιολογικό Μουσείο/Xenokratio Archaiologiko Mousio) is housed in a pink-walled neoclassical building that was once a school founded in 1889 by Konstantinos Xenokratis (1803-1876), a Greek from Bulgarian Thrace who took part in the War of Independence. It brings together the discoveries made in Etolia-Acarnania: the burial site of a Mycenaean warrior, bronze cauldrons and textile pieces from the Etoliko lagoon (1050-900 BC), sculptures from the cities of Etolia... Presented with care.
