ETOLIKO ISLAND
Island occupied by a town nicknamed "Little Venice", in the Etoliko lagoon. Restaurants and museums. Access by road.
This 26-hectare island (Νησί του Αιτωλικού/Nisi tou Aitolikou) is occupied by the town of Etoliko (population 4,800), a former Byzantine citadel nicknamed "Little Venice". It lies in the Etoliko lagoon, within the Missolonghi-Etoliko National Park. It is linked by two roads, one to Missolonghi and the other to the Iniada peninsula. There are restaurants around the modern church of the Theotokos, a folk museum and the beautiful Museum of Engraving, which houses 400 works by Vaso Katraki (1914-1988).
