The Congregation of Notre-Dame de Sion was founded in 1843 by Theodore and Marie Alphonse Ratisbonne, two Jewish brothers from Alsace who had converted to Christianity. Since its origins, the congregation has worked to promote dialogue between Judaism and Christianity. Alphonse founded several religious establishments in Ein Kerem and Jerusalem, including this convent: he is buried in the small cemetery. Simple but comfortable rooms are available from the sisters, open to all.
