The largest active church in Leiden, Gothic, whose roof collects a lot of water to provide drinking water
This is the largest active church in Leiden. Originally, it was a wooden chapel built in 1314 and dedicated to Saint Pancras, the name still used to designate the church. In 1366, work began on a Gothic church on this site, but was never completed. The church roof collected a lot of rainwater, which was used as drinking water in times of drought. The church's carved portals are well worth admiring.
