In 2023, the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam, the Africa Museum in Berg en Dal, the Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden and the Wereldmuseum in Rotterdam merged under a single name: the Wereldmuseum, which encourages reflection on what it means to be human. The Leiden collection takes us to the four corners of the globe. It focuses on global cultural histories, touching on important themes such as religion, indigenous worlds and their struggle for independence, or the restoration of historical injustice.
