HET SIEBOLDHUIS
A real museum of Japan in the heart of Leiden, with beautiful Japanese objects collected by Philipp Franz
This is a veritable museum of Japan in the heart of Leiden, on an illustrious canal in the city center. This beautiful 17th-century house houses magnificent Japanese objects collected by Philipp Franz von Siebold, a Bavarian physician. It boasts a number of attractive, unique rooms. Temporary exhibitions are also organized. It's worth noting that the Netherlands was the first country to establish trade relations with Japan in 1609, when the East India Company set up a trading post in Hirado.
