Gigantic dance festival in the northern part of the country: about thirty troupes from all over the north participate!
This festival takes place in Lawra, a quiet town in the northwest, usually during the month of September (towards the end of the month, but it is best to check locally, as the dates vary from year to year). About thirty troupes of dancers and drummers from towns and villages in the northern regions of Ghana and Burkina Faso come to the festival. This festival, which celebrates the harvest, gains in importance every year. The event is even broadcast live on national television.
