FRALINGER'S
It is here that you can taste the region's specialty, salt water taffy, which was created in Atlantic City in the 1880s. This little soft candy is made from sugar, corn syrup, butter and, as its name suggests, sea salt. Legend has it that the candy factory was submerged by the ocean on a stormy night, and that it was decided to keep its salty taste. Fralinger, a merchant from New Jersey, was the first to open a shop to sell salt water taffy, and spent years refining the recipe. Today, the famous candy comes in a multitude of flavours, but none is better than the original.
