The Mingan Island Cetacean Study is the ecological research station for marine mammals in the Mingan Islands. Founded in 1979 by Richard Sears, this station was the first to undertake this type of research in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. MICS conducts studies on various cetaceans and is globally recognized for its results on the blue whale.
What do they propose ? Volunteers accompany biologists researchers and participate in studies : photo-identification, biopsy, acoustic and technical data collection techniques, in the open sea all day.
Where ? Quebec City, Mexico, California.
Profile and conditions. Research taking place in the sea, these missions are highly discouraged for all people with epilepsy, heart problems, or simply mal. You can participate in the research from 12 years (accompanied). Prices vary according to the season; about 2 000 CAN $ the week and up to 3 605 CAN $ 15 days, with full pension but out of transport.
