KEJIMKUJIK NATIONAL PARK - SEAFRONT
Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site with hiking trails and canoe routes.
In Kejimkujik - Seaside Area, headlands, islands and bays can be admired as you rock to the sound of the waves and fill your lungs with salt air. You can see seals basking in the sun on coastal islets, a nesting site for the endangered piping plover, flocks of common eiders and other seabirds.
Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site is located in the heart of Nova Scotia, in a strange and enchanting lake district covering 381 km² of forested land. The Micmac tribes, who once populated it, had established their hunting and fishing camps here, because of the quiet, fish-filled rivers that flow through it. Here, asphalt is not allowed. Only hiking trails and canoeing routes allow you to discover this region, known for its variety of wildlife: white-tailed deer, moose, loon, piping plover. For those who are new to canoeing, there is the Mersey River and Kejimkujik Lake. For those who are new to canoeing, there is a bike rental area and the beautiful beach at Merrymakedge is a great place to swim. In winter, the park is a popular destination for cross-country skiers and snowshoers.
As for lodging, there is no possibility of spending the night in the Seaside sector. As for the other part of the park, camping (grounds and backcountry), ready-to-camp, yurts and rustic chalets are available for rent.
