CHIESA DI SAN GIOVANNI
Vast complex with a funeral chapel housing a masterpiece of Burgundian Gothic sculpture.
San Giovanni was the seat of the Dominican order. The vast complex has undergone several alterations over the centuries. The strange fresco of St. Christopher covering part of the exterior façade was added in 1929. The bell tower dates from 1376. The side aisles are lined with richly decorated chapels, but the most interesting is the funeral chapel of the Marquises of Saluzzo, a masterpiece of Burgundian Gothic sculpture, located in the apse behind the altar. The left nave leads to the silent cloister (1466).
