ABBAZIA DI SANTA MARIA
Great medieval monument of Piedmont with a Romanesque facade.
Founded in the 1130s by monks of the Cistercian order, the Abbey of Staffarda remains one of the great medieval monuments of Piedmont, not least because it has not been damaged and has remained in a state of conservation that allows us to imagine what it looked like at the time of its splendour. Inside the church, which has a Romanesque façade, the altarpiece of the high altar is decorated with a painting by Oddone Paschal, painted between 1531 and 1533, and a wooden Crucifixion from around 1530.
