TORRE CIVICA
Beautiful municipal tower of 60 meters without defensive character throughout its history
The beautiful 60-metre-high municipal tower is one of the symbols of municipal power. Its construction dates back to the 11th century. The loggia, decorated with arcades and a small cupola, was commissioned in the early 16th century by the Palaeologus family, the powerful marquises of Monferrato. Although it was designed for defensive purposes, it has always lacked any defensive character, and is now one of Casale Monferrato's landmark monuments. Its current form dates from the last restoration, which took place in 1920.
