SAINT MARGARET'S CHURCH
The Romanesque church of Sainte-Marguerite de Carrouges is home to many classified elements: high altar, tabernacle, altarpiece...
The Romanesque church of Sainte-Marguerite de Carrouges is worth a stopover in the municipality alone. This vast granite building on a Latin cross-shaped plan with long-lasting chapels in the choir is quite remarkable. The nave is from the 11th century, the transept from the 15th, the choir and the chapels from the 17th. It also contains many classified elements such as the Master, tabernacle, retable, and its medieval statues of carved stone and wood, a preaching chair, painted panels, etc. The commune and the association of the Friends of Sainte-Marguerite de Carrouges take great care to restore this jewel with the help of many donors.
