THE ARA PROJECT

This centre, dedicated to the protection and reintroduction of the red and green aras of Costa Rica, is the successor of Amigo de los With and was established legally in February 2012. Amigo de los With was founded by a couple of Americans, Richard and Margot Frisius. The historic site of Alajuela is now closed, but the sites of Punta Islita on the Pacific coast (reproduction) and Manzanillo on the Caribbean coast (reintroduction) are open to the public. The centre proposes a volunteer program. The one hour tour is extremely interesting and makes it possible to really understand the work of this organization.
