Used Tropical Tours Shuttles to get from Montezuma to Nosara. The shuttle was punctual and there were about 5 other people. We took a 20 min rest stop, and then had to switched lines at a bus terminal based on destination. Roads were a bit bumpy but general great service.
Horrible company. The agent Juan Carlos was extremely impolite and offending on email and cellphone. Offered to drop me off 2 km from the hotel while the road to the hotel is good. I politely asked for an explanation, the guy did not want to explain, started screening. Definitely not taking this shuttle
We used Tropical Tours shuttles to get back and forth to Liberia Airport to Santa Teresa (about a 5 hour drive each way). Both drivers were very friendly and arrived within 15 minutes of our pick up time. They arrived early for the airport pick up and had a sign with our first and last name on it, which was reassuring.
The vans are very clean and have very good AC. Plenty of room for 5-6 people with several bags. The driver’s stopped for us to get dinner on the way to Santa Teresa, lunch on the way back, and the bathroom as needed.
Just a heads up, the roads are windy and can take a long time to go long distance, so Costa Ricans drive fairly fast and pass a lot. It is just the way of the road! But we felt completely safe with our both of drivers and it probably saved us 1.5 hours.
Neither driver spoke very much English and our Spanish is fair at best. We communicated well with the drivers using Google translate and used Google maps to verify drop-off locations.
Surpassed my expectations and exactly what we hoped for!
This was the worst shuttle experience that I ever had and I've done some traveling in my time. I booked them from Tamarindo to Santa Teresa the shuttle was stuffed but the driver was extremely friendly and I tipped him very generously for his hard work. I went to book the same for the way back since it was a cheaper option than a private cab but I was concerned about the actual time Id arrive at Liberia airport for my flight so I talked to their customer service department through what's app whom pretty much told me I was dumb and kept sending me links their website without ANY help. I do not recommend this shuttle company and would suggest finding ANY other company besides this one especially if you need to be on time for anything.
Have taken tropical tours several times. They are responsive on what's app, have a generous cancellation/refund policy, and are always prompt and courteous. Vehicles are well maintained and comfortable, service is convenient. Worth the price over the public bus
Very reliable shuttle service. I travelled San José - Santa Teresa v.v
Both transfer were very punctual and I always felt safe.
With the ferry transfer you change drivers. This was also well organized and no problem
Paid for a private shuttle from San Jose to Cahuita and back a week later. Both drivers were extremely nice and the ride was comfortable. Stopped for lunch and bathroom breaks half way (as our ride was 5 hours each way). This company lives up to the almost 5 star review! Thank you!!!
This is a great way to get around. They were prompt and on point and got me safely to where I needed to be.
I even left 2 hats on the shuttle and they were had delivered to me less than an hour after I was dropped off.
I’ll definitely keep recommending this company and will travel with them again in the near future ????????????✨????????♥️☀️????????????????
We found Tropical Tours through a Google search and it was recommended by our hotel host in Santa Teresa.
The overall experience was great! Our shuttle was waiting right outside our hotel as scheduled and on time! The driver drove safely and helped us with our bags.
In Santa Teresa, the driver made about 7 stops to pick up all 15 passengers. This was the most time-consuming.
Once we were set, we drove all the way to Nicoya, with one coffee pit stop in Jicaral.
At Nicoya, everyone was separated and transferred into smaller shuttles to other destinations like Samara, Nosara, and Tamarindo.
From Santa Teresa to Nosara, it took us about 6 hours door-to-door.
Totally inflexible, quite rude and unhelpful. Yes they get you from A to B but seem to have forgotten you’re paying them a lot of money for the service.
I’m sure it’s hard to run a business like this but that’s your job (whoever runs the WhatsApp account). Also the website isn’t correct - they don’t run the afternoon shuttles, you enquire about it and then they try to reel you in to paying private as ‘not enough people want to take the afternoon shuttle’.
These guys were amazing. They picked me up at the airport and took me all the way to Manuel Antonio. And showed up on time for a quick and easy transport back to San Jose a week later. Drivers were very personable and easy going.

Next time I’ll be using Transporzuma.
