The village of Spoa marks the transition to the remote north, on the other side of the mountainous centre dominated by Mount Kali Limni (1,215m). Its amphitheatrical location is worth a short visit. Take the opportunity to stop at the small traditional café Folia where the owner Anthoula will prepare the best sardines of the island and delicious thrapsala, local cuttlefish, all with a view of the sea. Don't be surprised to find these fresh fish at this altitude: the tavern has its own fishing boat on the coast!
