The historic cathedral of Saint-Pierre dates back to 1690, but was destroyed by fire in 1902. The present building was rebuilt between 1905 and 1907. The interior architecture, with its upper galleries, is typical of Basque churches, and the stained glass windows date from the early 20th century, installed shortly after reconstruction. Only the transept windows date from 1967, unveiled on the occasion of the visit of General de Gaulle, the church's donor.
