MORICETOWN CANYON
Indian Reserve with remarkable waterfalls, a great address for fishing enthusiasts, with permission, in Smithers.
Shortly after the Kathlyn Glacier, continuing on the Yellowhead, stop at Moricetown Canyon: in this Indian reserve, 15 metres of waterfall that salmon strive to swim up in the fall. Anglers rush to the site, especially in the summer from mid-June to late July when the river is at its peak. First Nations people have an automatic right to fish in the area. All others must have a Moricetown Band pass and only one spot in the canyon is allowed for this purpose : Idiot Rock.
