CERRO DE LA BANDERA
Cerro De La Bandera, offering a panoramic view of the city and the confluence of the Meta and Bita rivers in the Orinoco
At the top of this 350 million year old rock formation, at 97 meters high, a large national flag has been hanging since 1913, which honors its name ("Flag Hill"). It takes only 5 minutes to reach it by a staircase carved in the rock. From there, a panoramic view of the city and the confluence of the Meta and Bita rivers in the Orinoco. It is best to go there early in the morning or in the evening, to appreciate the magnificent sunrises or sunsets. There is a guard permanently on top, but avoid going late at night.
