TANKWA KAROO NATIONAL PARK
Tankwa Karoo National Park is located around 70 km west of Sutherland. It covers an area of 1,436 km² in one of the country's driest regions. The park offers an ancient desert landscape, home to turtles, lizards, gemsboks and red hartebeests. It is also home to orb-webs, skinks and toktokkies. The park offers activities such as 4x4 trekking on off-road trails, with two main routes for experienced enthusiasts. It is recommended to visit the park with a high-clearance vehicle and good tires, as all roads are gravel. There are no stores, restaurants, public telephones or ATMs in the park.
