In a bucolic setting of pine-covered mountains, the Oued Mefrouch has carved out a ravine between high, glowing cliffs. The construction of a dam has unfortunately led to the disappearance of the famous seven cascades of El-Ourit, often mentioned in Tlemcénienne literature. However, there is still a pleasant little lake with deep-blue waters where the now artificial El-Ourit cascade flows. Just over the hill, a small metal railway viaduct, built by Gustave Eiffel in 1890, spans the river.
