It may happen that trees, lying on the ground, block the passage. There is a train station next to the Waters and Forests camp. From here we walk 30 minutes, silently, so as not to frighten the elephants. We come to a wonderful position offering a panoramic view of a vast saltworks where elephants, whose number can sometimes exceed, come to look for water, mineral salts… The Pachyderms ballet is a very curious spectacle. This is an exceptional, even unique place in the world, which alone justifies the reputation of Bayanga. A recommended activity in the afternoon, between 13 h and 17 h, when elephants take full advantage of the saltworks, possible with children.
