Together with the Binder-Léré Wildlife Reserve, of which it forms the heart, this park, managed by the NGO Noé, forms the Binder-Léré Protected Area Complex. It is home to a unique diversity of wetlands and the country's largest waterfalls. The protected area is characterized by open forests and forest galleries, tall trees typical of the Sudanese savannah, perennial grasses, vast flood plains serving as spawning grounds for numerous fish, and two lakes, Léré and Tréné, which are home to a rich avifauna.
