VIMOUTIERS MILL
This magnificent mill is one of the few in the region still in working order
This magnificent roadside mill is one of the few mills in the region still in working order. Dating back to the 14th century, it was originally a tanning mill (for preparing hides), before becoming a flour mill. Powered by the river Vie, it was fitted with a turbine in 1928. Rebuilt after the Second World War and the bombing of Vimoutiers, it is now possible to visit the mill (booking required) thanks to its two owners: Yvette and Jean Brêteau. The latter, a former miller, loves to share his knowledge.
