A local curiosity: trees with right-angled trunks, well almost! Only a few specimens have this atypical rectangular shape from the base of the trunk to a few meters high (the trunk then becomes circular). Scientists planted the Quararibea asterolepis outside the crater to study its development. The result: the trunk grows cylindrically like any other tree, which seems to show that the conditions and environment of El Valle play a key role in its development.
