Located in the Caribbean Sea, Bastimentos Island is part of the province of Boscas del Toro. With its turquoise waters and palm trees, the island is a most authentic place, where most of the inhabitants are descendants of Jamaicans and Ngäbe Bugle Indians. Its many beaches are protected by the Maritime Park and are often deserted. Since 1998, the Marine National Park Isla Bastimentos has been protecting beach ecosystems as well as coral and mangrove reefs. Don't forget your masks and snorkels as the underwater fauna is spectacular, with colourful fish, turtles and starfish. Authenticity is also reflected in the architecture of the hotels: Eclypse de Mar Acqua Lodge, located opposite the village of Bastimentos, is an eco-lodge made entirely of wood and colourful. Above the waves, the small houses allow a natural freshness but also a total change of scenery.
