Museum dedicated to the history and rich heritage of Abbeyleix, a model village built in the century in Portlaoise.

Installed in an old school dating from 1884, this museum is dedicated to the history and the richness of the heritage of this place. Abbeyleix is indeed a model village, built in the 18th century by the Viscount of Vesci, with wide tree-lined streets and refined Georgian buildings. You can walk through the village and stop at Morrissey's, one of the oldest pubs in Ireland. A pub that has been serving Guinness since... 1775. The Abbeyleix Heritage House is a great idea for a getaway in Portlaoise.
