Beautiful massif made up of vint and one peaks and a karst plateau serving as a "border" with the municipality of Istočni Mostar.
This beautiful massif dominates Mostar in the east. It owes its name to Veles, god of war and harvest in Slavic mythology. It consists of twenty-one peaks, culminating in Mount Botin, at an altitude of 1,969 meters. It also includes a karst and arid plateau with uninhabited or sparsely populated villages such as Banjdol and Kružanj. Since 1995, the massif has served as a "border" with the municipality of Istočni Mostar in the Bosnian Serb Republic. Agencies in Mostar offer hiking here, an opportunity to discover the former underground military base of Mount Botin.
