ST PETERS TIN CHURCH
Remarkable church in hybrid Swiss-Gothic style, set on a high rock overlooking a small river.
This unique 19th-century church stands dramatically on a high rock overlooking a small river. The hybrid Swiss-Gothic style building, constructed entirely of tin and corrugated iron, has an unusual and original design. Legend has it that the church was brought back to Laragh by a mill owner and his wife after their honeymoon in Switzerland! And that it was put there to recall the atmosphere of the Swiss Alps. However, the surroundings of the church are charming and make for a wonderful walk.
