PATRICK KAVANAGH CENTRE
Museum dedicated to local history and to Patrick Kavanagh, a great poet and novelist from the village of Carrickmacross.
Within the church in Inniskeen, which Patrick Kavanagh attended at the time, is a small museum dedicated to local history and to the great poet and novelist from this small village. Kavanagh's work is virtually unknown in France, but in Ireland his poetry and autobiographical stories are considered classics. Kavanagh is buried in the adjoining cemetery, where you can visit freely between groups of visitors, as the centre regularly organises guided tours through Inniskeen in the footsteps of the famous poet.
