Monaghan County Museum with a collection of archaeological material, prehistoric objects, paintings, etc.

The museum, housed in a fine building, has a permanent collection of archaeological material, prehistoric artefacts, examples of traditional local crafts, domestic utensils, and paintings, prints and watercolours from the late 18th century to the present day. The most prized piece is the Cross of Clogher, a processional cross dating from around 1400. An interesting visit if you want to know more about the sometimes violent history of County Monaghan. A must-see if you are in the area.
