CATHEDRAL KILMORE
A Gothic cathedral with a Romanesque doorway in Cavan, a special masterpiece in Ireland.
Also known as St. Feithlimidh's, the cathedral is a special masterpiece in Ireland. It was originally built in the 6th century AD by the Irish clergyman Phelim, known in the history of Christianity as the disciple of St. Columba. He is honoured as the patron saint of the parish of Kilmore. The cathedral as we see it today was completed in 1860, in a generally Gothic style, enriched by contributions from various periods such as its 12th century Romanesque doorway. It is set in a beautiful wooded area.
